The Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront 220 is a line of network scanners that are network ready devices, complete with a gorgeous 8.5 inch color touchscreen for greatly simplified operation. Operating at 25 PPM (Pages per Minute) duplex color and black and white document scanner capable of scanning everything from business cards to card stock.
This network scanner comes equipped with the Windows CE operating system, enough USB ports to add a keyboard and mouse (should that be necessary) and a fingerprint reader (depending on model) that can identify the user via fingerprint.
The Canon 220e scanner version also comes with a free copy of eCopy (now part of Nuance Corp.) ShareScan. ShareScan is a very nice, very simple, and extremely easy to use application for scanning documents directly to your desktop. ShareScan, once installed becomes active on the scanner screen. Using the touchscreen you can scan your documents on the network scanner and move them to any designated folder, including your own desktop.
A software developer kit is also available for those who want to develop or install their own applications directly on the scanner.
